Mary C. Gargano, 89, a longtime resident of Wakefield died on Wednesday, October 14 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Stoneham on November 18, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mare (Gallella) Mustone.
Mrs. Gargano was raised in Stoneham and was a graduate of Stoneham High School. She had been in the Insurance and Real Estate business for over 45 years and had worked as an office manager for her husband at Guy Gargano Insurance Agency and Home Realty Co. Mrs. Gargano was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Church (Chapel, Soup kitchen). An excellent seamstress she had made quilts for the Aids babies and Dolls for the Red Cross.
Mrs. Gargano was the wife of 47 years of the late Guy Gargano. She was the devoted mother of Teresa Forrest and husband Daniel of Tewksbury, Jean Gargano of Wakefield, Guy Gargano of Wilmington, Rose Magliozzi and husband David of Burlington, Peter Gargano and Paul Gargano and wife Christine all of Wakefield. She was the grandmother of Paul, Stacy, Gregory, Jennifer, Laura, Maria and Christopher. Great Grandmother of Paul, Matthew, Joseph, Shawn and Jordan. Sister of Theresa Mustone and Carol Ellis both of Stoneham, Barbara Earle of FL, Christie Mustone of N. Reading and the late Michael, Joseph, Anthony and John Mustone and Frances Simonin, Susan Comendul and Adeline Valente.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 147 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, 1-4 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
