Mary Logan

Mary Barbara Logan , age 79, a longtime Lynnfield resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Monday, March 4 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Cambridge on November 24, 1939 she was the daughter of the late August and Augusta (Vey) Siegel.

Barbara was raised in Roslindale and was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School. Her family were parishioners at Holy Trinity German Church. Upon graduation, she went on to the Catherine Laboure School of Nursing, where she met many of her life-long friends. She worked for many years at the Carney Hospital in Dorchester and Boston Public Health. During her time as a public health nurse, she served the Savin Hill neighborhood and was the school nurse for St. William's School. She still has many friends in that area. Barbara met her husband, Dr. Bernard Logan , and they were married on July 12, 1970 at Sacred Heart Church in Roslindale. Soon after their wedding, Bernie was sent to Vietnam and when he returned they resided in Pacific Grove, California for a year. When they returned to the area they lived in Malden before moving to Lynnfield in 1973 where they happily raised their family. Barbara transitioned from her nursing career to being a devoted and caring mother and homemaker and doing a phenomenal job of raising her children and always being there for them. She was always a solid support to her husband. For many years, Barbara taught CCD at her parish, Our Lady of the Assumption in Lynnfield. She loved working with her students to prepare them for their First Holy Communion. Barbara and Bernie enjoyed spending their summers at Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester. Barbara loved to walk her beloved German Shepherd dog, Max, on the beach every morning, until he passed away. She also enjoyed spending time on her husband's boat, where she was his trusty co-captain who always made sure they made it back safely and she became an expert at docking the boat. Barbara loved to travel and she and Bernie enjoyed many vacations together. Barbara was an avid reader and a talented artist who enjoyed painting and ceramics. All of her children will hold dear the artwork that she made for them. She was an amazing cook and baker and no one would ever go hungry when she was around. Whenever there was a party or get together everyone always looked forward to her desserts. She was an animal lover and fostered the love of animals in her children. Her pets were almost as spoiled as her grandchildren. Above all, she cherished her family and her time with her children and grandchildren. She was a great Nana to them and she had a mutually loving relationship with them.

She was the beloved wife, soulmate and best friend of Dr. Bernard Logan . She was the loving mother of Christopher Logan of Lynnfield, Suzanne Glazer and her husband Dr. Alan Glazer of Milton, Andrew Logan and his wife Dr. Rohini Harvey of Amherst, Andrea Logan of Lynnfield, and Dr. John Logan and his wife Sarah Bean of Fairhaven. She was the sister of Anthony Siegel and his wife Betty of Quincy. She was the loving "Nana" of Kiera, Colin, Sejal, Iris, and Samuel.

Her Funeral Wake will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 11:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Assumption Church, corner of Grove & Salem Sts., Lynnfield at 12:30pm. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday from 3-7pm. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
