Mary Lou McWhinnie, 82, a lifelong Wakefield resident, died on Friday, November 24 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Melrose on April 25, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Lillian (Barile) McWhinnie.
Mary Lou was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1959. She was truly an exceptional woman with such a loving personality and an open heart. She could always see the good in everyone that had entered her life regardless of the circumstances. She welcomed so many people into her heart and home over the years and she’s shaped so many lives without even knowing her significance in their journey. In the last years of her life the most important thing to her were her grandsons, they lit up her face and life in such a joyful way, Jayson was her little sweet pea and Breadan was her little terror. She was so proud to be their Grammy. She loved so many things football, cooking shows, daytime stories, junk food, special moments with her daughter and most of all just seeing her grandsons grow up in their own special way. She always sang songs to them, that they will remember forever and keep close to their hearts.
She is survived by her daughter Danielle McWhinnie and her two grandsons: Jayson and Breadan. Jayson’s father Steven Fudge, her brother Joseph McWhinnie, and his wife Paula and sister-in-law Janice McWhinnie of NH. Ms. McWhinnie was predeceased by her two brothers: Robert McWhinnie and William McWhinnie, and her sister Margaret McGregor.
Funeral Services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield.
