Mary Nikitin

Mary F. Nikitin, 84, of Melrose and formerly of Wakefield, died Sunday, April 20 at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Born in Wakefield on September 30, 1929 she was the daughter of the late James and Teresa (Ellis) O'Keefe.

Mrs. Nikitin was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School. She had been a long time Melrose resident and was an active member in St. Mary's Parish in Melrose. She was a retired sales representative from Fisher Scientific of Wilmington.

Mrs. Nikitin was the beloved wife of the late Walter Nikitin. She was the loving mother of Janice E. Stravinskas and her husband Joseph and Stephen W. Nikitin and his wife Lois all of Wakefield, Gregory Nikitin and Cindi Marsan of Marshfield, Kathleen M. Woodman and her husband William of Melrose, and Patricia N. Ischiropoulos and her husband Harry of PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Shelby, Christopher, Michael, Ashley, Dean, Alex, and Walter and her great grandchildren Grace, Christopher and Emily.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish, 9 Herbert St., Melrose at 10 o'clock. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8pm.
