Mary A. "Netta" Nyhan, 88, of Reading formerly of Stoneham, died Tuesday Dec. 15 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington.

Born in Winchester on June 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Annie E. (McGaffigan) Murphy.

Mrs. Nyhan was raised in Stoneham and was a graduate of Stoneham High School. She had been a Reading resident since 1994. She has worked as a secretary at Andrews Plumbing & Heating in Burlington before her retirement. Mrs. Nyhan was a member of St. Patrick Church in Stoneham.

Mrs. Nyhan was the wife of the late Phillip A. Nyhan. She is survived by her three children; Betty Flahive and her husband Larry of Billerica, John J. Nyhan of Reading and Brenda Miccio and her husband Vin, Sr. of Reading, 6 grandchildren, Brian, Frank, Joe, and Ken Flahive, Vin Miccio Jr. and Rebecca Nyhan Castellano and two great grandchildren, Dan Zuccaro and Phillip Crowell. She is also survived by two nieces, Melanie Murphy of Reading and Joanne Murphy of Coscob, CT. Mrs. Nyhan was predeceased by her brother Fred Murphy and granddaughter Joan Crowell.

A funeral service will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main Street, Stoneham on Saturday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7pm. Interment will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Burlington.
