Mary Rae (Keefe) Whalley, 87, of Lynnfield, MA died on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA.
Born in Lawrence, MA on May 2, 1934 to Raymond and Annie (Reason) Keefe, Mary Rae was a graduate of St. Patrick High School in Lawrence and Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. She had been a Lynnfield resident for over 50 years. A retired stewardess for American Airlines, Mary Rae was a longtime member of the St. Maria Goretti Church choir and most of all enjoyed music and tending to her magnificent gardens.
Mary Rae was the wife of the late Edward H. Whalley, Jr., and is survived by their four children: Edward Whalley of Haverhill, Ellen Eckenrode and her husband Jim of Newton, MA, Elizabeth Whalley of Doylestown, PA, and Kenneth Whalley and his wife Beth of Topsfield, MA, her two sisters: Denise Menery and Bonnie Hoffman and by her cherished seven grandchildren: Tiffany, Kate, Jackson, Henry, Lauren, Adam and Ava. Mrs. Whalley was predeceased by her brother Charles Keefe and four sisters: Charlotte Preston, Virginia Fleming, Margaret Rice and Joan Cargill.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield, MA on Wednesday, January 12th from 4:00-7:00PM (Masks are required.) Mary Rae's Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut Street, Lynnfield, MA on Thursday, January 13th at 11:30AM. Burial will be private. A celebration of her life is planned for the spring when once again flowers will be in bloom.
