MaryEllen Bandino

MaryEllen Bandino, 78, of North Reading and formerly Wakefield, died Sunday at the Lifecare Center of Acton.

Born in Boston on May 24, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret (Abondonza) Penta.

Mrs. Bandino was a graduate of Cheverus Catholic High School in Malden and the Malden Hospital School of Nursing. She had worked as a Registered Nurse at the Louis Candy Factory, and Don Orione Nursing Home in the Orient Heights section of East Boston. A Wakefield resident since 1976, she later moved to North Reading in 2006.

Mrs. Bandino was the wife of John P. Bandino. She was the mother of Elise Pryke and her husband David of Acton, and Janine Bandino of Medford. She was the sister of Ernest Penta, Jr. of Newburyport and the late Ronald Penta. Mrs. Bandino is also survived by her granddaughter Rachel.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.

Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
