Maureen D . Raffael , 81, of Wakefield died on Wednesday, October 19 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Quincy on June 4, 1930 she was the daughter of the late James S. and Carolyn (Woodsum) Sarno.

Maureen was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1948. She was a former clerical worker for John Hancock Life Insurance and later worked at the Children's Center of Wakefield.

Maureen had been a Wakefield resident since 1954 and was a member of St. Florence Church. She also enjoyed gardening and watching the Patriots.

Maureen was the wife of the late Charles A. Raffael . She was the mother of Lynn A. Sullivan and her husband Kevin of Woburn and Michael S. Raffael and wife Nancy of Wakefield. She was the sister of Kathleen Page of Quincy and the late James Sarno and Rita Dunlea. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer and Joshua Hart and Michelle, Kristin and Stephen Raffael and her great grandchild, Madison E. McCarthy.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
