Meredith Anne Lightbown, 76, of Weston, Massachusetts, passed away on March 5, 2024, at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA. She was born on June 2, 1947. Meredith was known for her achievements as a skilled professional illustrator, designer, and fine artist, and spent much of the rest of her free time seeking adventure in the great outdoors or spending time relaxing and chatting with her close friends.
Meredith is survived by her sister, Dorian Lightbown, her brother, Scot Lightbown, her son, Giles Dickerson and daughter-in-law Mia Rose Dickerson. She was a proud grandmother to Taylor Dickerson and Sophia Dickerson, and was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Arlene Lightbown, and her late husband George Amadon.
Meredith attended Wakefield High School at which time she developed a notable affinity for drawing and painting, leading her to pursue formal education in fine arts at Rhode Island School of Design. Upon completion at RISD, Meredith spent a period of time producing illustrations for businesses in Switzerland where she lived briefly, before settling in Somerville, MA., and beginning her award winning professional career in illustration and design. She worked independently, running her own small studio, as well as for the MITRE corporation and Abt Associates, winning a DESI award for her project contributions at Abt. Meredith also earned professional Certificates of Excellence from both the AIGA organization and the widely celebrated Communications Arts publication.
In her free time Meredith was a consummate outdoors-person, excelling in horseback riding, hunting for turkey and deer, and fishing. She could be found at her favorite social hub, the Concord Rod and Gun Club, where she adored the small fishing pond, spending hours either in her welcomed solitude or teaching friends and family to fish. Meredith also loved classical music, and could be found enjoying records from her extensive record collection or playing Bach on her baby grand piano she loved dearly. At the end of the day she could be found roasting her latest catch in her fireplace, listening to music surrounded by her curated collection of British Country Cottage style antique furnishings that articulated her unique decoration style.
At this time no memorial service is planned, but a private graveside service will be held in the future at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody, Massachusetts.
