Miriam M. Simmons, of Salem and a longtime Lynnfield resident died Friday September 15 in Salem at age 97. Mrs. Simmons was born in Somerville, MA on November 23, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Albert S. and Sarah (Drayton) Snow. She was raised in Winchester and was a graduate of Kendall Hall a private school in Peterborough, NH. While a Lynnfield resident she had been an active member of the community. She served as President of the Lynnfield Flower Workshop, was a member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church of Lynnfield and served as a member of its Alter Guild. In addition, she was a retired Library Assistant from the Lynnfield Town Library and also served as a clerk at the former Lynnfield Jewelers of Lynnfield Center.
Mrs. Simmons was the beloved wife of the late Richard D. Simmons. She was the loving mother of Richard D. Simmons, Jr. and his partner Carol Roberts of Swampscott and Carole S. Hamilton of Salem. She was also the grandmother of David Hamilton and his wife Kimberly and Amy C. Hamilton and was the great grandmother of Sophie, Henry and Owen. She is predeceased by her brother Walter Snow.
Funeral Services will be private for the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mim Simmons should be made to the Lynnfield Public Library Flower Replacement Fund, 18 Summer St., Lynnfield, MA, 01940.
