Nicholas Daddona

Nicholas Daddona , 82, of Danvers, MA departed peacefully at his residence on June 28, 2013.

Born in Waterbury, CT on December 9, 1930, Nick was the son of the late John L. and Elviria Daddona .

Nick was raised in Waterbury, CT and was also a resident of Southington, CT. He was a graduate of the American School for the Deaf in Hartford, CT Class of 1952. He attended the Helen Keller National Center in New York from 1980 – 1981. He worked as a stone mason for over 17 years within the family construction business. Nick was an enthusiastic participant of the American Association of the Deaf Blind, attending several national conferences across the US. In 1990, he moved to the New England Home for the Deaf in Danvers, MA.

Nick was an avid sports fan, shamelessly devoted to the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. He had a keen mind for historical facts and events and had a quirky and quick sense of humor. He was a formidable chess and checkers opponent, hating to lose. He enjoyed gardening and playing Crazy 8's with his friends, and loved good food and going out to dinner and for coffee and donuts.

Nick was predeceased by his two loving brothers, John and Tony. He is survived by his nephews and niece, Kevin, Kenneth, Anthony and Deborah Daddona and their families, as well as by his sister-in-law Rosemary Way and her husband Paul. He is sorely missed by his "adopted" family Kristen and Jim Farrell and their children Braeden and Kernan, and by the whole O'Hare-Farrell family of Melrose and Newburyport MA. He is specially remembered by his DBCAN provider Don Tucker, as well as by his good friend Sam Aiken.

A memorial service will be held at the New England Home for the Deaf, 154 Water Street, Danvers MA on August 24, 2013 at 10:30am in the Ground floor Community Room. Requests for sign language interpreters must be made to Kristen Farrell at km.farrell@verizon.net or by phone at 978-423-2900 prior to August 9, 2013.
