Nicholas J. Delfino, 87, of Stoneham, died Saturday, March 29 at the Winchester Hospital.
Born in Lexington on December 30, 1926, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Moscardelli) Delfino.
Mr. Delfino was raised in Lexington and was a graduate of Lexington High School. He had served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Seaman 1st Class. He was a retired custodian for the Town of Lexington. Mr. Delfino had been a Stoneham resident for the past 65 years and was a member of St. Patrick Parish. He was the past President of Nage Local Municipal Union and was also a member of the Stoneham V.F.W., the Winchester Sons of Italy, and the Stoneham Marconi Club.
Mr. Delfino was the loving husband of Irene E. (Foley) Delfino. He was the devoted father of Carol A. Psallidas and her husband Paul of Malden, Donna M. Chapman of Everett, Karen L. Pelletier and her husband Michael of Hudson, NH, and Gloria J. Calicchio and her husband Fred of Burlington. He was the brother of Michael Delfino, Jr. of Marco Island, FL and the late Francis Delfino. He is also survived by his eight adoring grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and his loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main Street, Stoneham on Friday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Monroe Cemetery in Lexington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boston Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115.
