Noel Higgins

Noel B. Higgins, 68, of Reading and formerly of Wakefield died on Sunday April 22 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Ireland on November 8, 1943 he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Watson) Higgins.

Mr. Higgins moved to the United States in 1960. During the Vietnam Era he served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired Clerk from U.S. Airways.

Mr. Higgins was the founder of the Wakefield Youth Soccer Association. He was the Wakefield Boy's Youth Soccer Coach and led them to the State Championship. He was also the former girl's soccer coach at Wakefield High School and led them to the State Championship in 1988. Mr. was inducted into the Wakefield High School Hall of Fame.

Mr. Higgins was the husband of Mary T. (Sullivan) Higgins. He was the father of Michael Higgins of Peabody, Kevin "Huggy" Higgins of Woburn and Pamela Bragg of Wakefield. He was the brother of Catherine Levis of Ireland. He was the grandfather of Jessica, Andrea, Eric, Anthony and Sean and the Uncle of Ross, Sarah, Ciara and Gavin. He is also survived by his beloved dog and best friend Dixie.

Funeral services will be private.

Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield.
