Nona Patricia Stappen , 73, of North Reading, died Monday, April 21 at the Wingate Nursing Home in Reading.
Born in Stoneham on March 7, 1941 she was the daughter of the late John and Nona (Connolly) Deveney.
Mrs. Stappen was raised in Roxbury and Wakefield and was a graduate of Arch Bishop Cushing High School, Class of 1958. She had retired from New England Telephone/NYNEX.
Mrs. Stappen was the beloved wife of the late Everett J. Stappen , Jr. She was the loving mother of Nona Therese Stappen-Brown and her husband Thomas of North Reading. She was the sister of John W. Deveney and his wife Dorothy of Wakefield. She is also survived by her granddaughters Nona Lorraine Brown and Colleen Therese Brown.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 8pm. Interment, St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
