, 75, of Wakefield died on Sunday, August 11 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Newark, New Jersey on August 24, 1937 he was the son of the late John

. and Jessie L. (Sanford)
Gerndt
.
Skip had been a Wakefield resident for the past 15 years and was formerly of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Union, New Jersey and was a graduate of Union High School, Class of 1956. Mr.
Gerndt
was retired. He spent most of his career in the trucking industry most recently working for Hegarty's Delivery Service in Stoneham. He had also worked for Crystal Motor Express in Wakefield and Tuscan Dairy in Union, New Jersey for 30 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Skip enjoyed dividing his time between Wakefield and his home on the Jersey shore.

is survived by his wife Debbie (Tarantino)

of Bridgewater, New Jersey, his two sons; John W.
Gerndt
and his wife Maddy of Morrisville, Vermont and Christopher D.
Gerndt
of Wakefield. He is also survived by one grandson, Zaine Bertrand-
Gerndt
.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Thursday from 6-8pm and in New Jersey on Saturday, August 17 at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave. Union, New Jersey from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Pl., West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226, Attn: Contribution Services.
