Norris Muzzy Gove, 94, of Peabody, formerly of Wakefield, died on Friday, March 25 at the Brooksby Village in Peabody.
Born in Keene, NH on July 10, 1916 he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Jessie Z. (Lewis) Gove.
Mr. Gove was a graduate of Melrose High School and the New England Aircraft School. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII serving in Africa and Italy. He was employed at General Electric for 12 years working as a technician on the first Jet Engine developed at General Electric. He was later employed at Hanscom Air Force Base in varied areas retiring in 1976 after 26 years of service and was also employed in private business as a machinist until full retirement.
Mr. Gove was a resident of Wakefield residing on Armory and Church Sts. from 1941 to 2002 when he moved into the retirement community at Brooksby Village in Peabody. He was a former member of Wakefield Retired Men's Club and Bowling Leagues.
Mr. Gove was the husband of the late Nina L. (Perry) Gove. He is survived by his daughter, Judithann (Gove) Cushman and her husband Glenn of Groton, his grandson, William C. Payne, nephew and friend Howard Neff of MA, Nephews Harry Neff of MA, Philip Neff of GA, Stephen Perry of FL, Frederick "Sandy" Gove of FL, Peter Gove of MA, and nieces Marcia Neff of CT and Sharyn Perry of FL. He was preceded in death by his sister Charlotte (Gove) Neff and brothers, Herbert and Philip Gove.
Funeral services will be private.
Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield.
