P. Arthur Adinolfi, 87, of Lynnfield died on Thursday June 14 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Boston on March 23, 1925 he was the son of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Flammia) Adinolfi.
After graduating from Mechanical Arts High School in Boston, Arthur enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a Second Lieutenant Bombardier, Navigator flying over 33 missions and was awarded the Air Medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.
He graduated Tufts University with a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Arthur joined General Electric in 1950 contributing significantly to GE's Aircraft Engine's reputation as a world leader in power plants for business aircraft, commercial helicopters, and commuter aircraft. In 1972 he became General Manager of the small commercial engine department. His efforts helped lead GE aircraft engines to Global prominence during the 1970s and early 1980s. After retiring from GE in 1983 he formed the firm bearing his name consulting in broad engineering, manufacturing, marketing, financial and management experience.
Arthur was inducted into the GE Hall of Fame in 1997.
Arthur was a long term member and officer of Salem Country Club where he thoroughly enjoyed playing golf.
The eldest of 7 children of Nicholas and Josephine Adinolfi, Arthur's beloved wife Josephine passed in January of 2012. They were married 57 years.
Mr. Adinolfi is survived by his two daughters: Julie A. Adinolfi of Newburyport and JoAnne Adinolfi of Peabody and his son Paul A. Adinolfi of Peabody. He was the brother of Thomas, Anthony, Joseph and Rocco Adinolfi and Florence Angelo and Mary Hallisey. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Jason and Joseph Upham.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday beginning at 9 a.m. to be followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Grove St., Lynnfield at 11 o'clock. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
