Patricia Mercurio

Patricia Ann Mercurio, age 82, of Reading, formerly of Peabody, died Thursday, January 11 at her residence with her family by her side.

Born in Malden on December 3, 1935 she was the daughter of the late George C. and Alice P. (Russell) Chilvers.

Mrs. Mercurio was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1953. She had been a longtime Peabody resident, having lived in the area for more than 50 years before moving to Reading. Mrs. Mercurio loved her work; she had worked as a claims adjuster for Horace Mann and Liberty Mutual and even helped her late husband run his tile business. In her spare time, she enjoyed boating, travel and antique cars; but above all, she loved her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred L. Mercurio. She was the loving mother of Lori Leland and her husband Alan of Reading and the late Lisa Ann Mercurio. She was the sister of George Chilvers and his wife Helen of CA and Carol Cersosimo and her husband Joseph of CO. She was the sister-in-law of Claire DeStefano of Salem and the late Vincent DeStefano, Ann Marie Kelly, and Robert Kelly. She was the grandmother of Lori Ann Briere and her husband Kevin, Leslie McIsaac and her husband David, Alan Leland, III and his wife Elizabeth D'Antonio, and Brian Leland. She was the great grandmother of Kyle & Rylee Briere and Christian McIsaac. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and surrogate grandchildren.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham on Saturday, Jan 20 at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham, prior to the mass beginning at 8am. Interment, Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
