Paul D . Buonomo , 65, of North Reading died Monday, September 10 at his residence.
Paul was born in Boston on April 30, 1953 and was the son of Joseph A. and Doris O. (Sterner) Buonomo .
In his own words Paul recently wrote: My life began on April 30, 1953 with many health problems. Despite a difficult beginning, I was able to live a life of accomplishments with the help of my mom, Doris, my dad, Joe, my brother Steve and many family and friends. I graduated from Lexington Special Education Program and attended workshops in Arlington and Danvers. I enjoyed dancing, traveling, bike riding, miniature golf, the beach in Ocean Park, Maine and vacations in New Hampshire. I joined the Special Olympics and won Gold and Silver medals in racing, broad jump and basketball. My mom, dad and brother were always there to cheer me on and shake my hand at the medal awards. One of my proudest days was when Father Henry gave me the gift of Deaconate and invited me to assist at Mass at St. Eulalia Church in Winchester. For the last 10 years I lived in a group home in North Reading and attended Heritage Industries Program in Danvers. I will remember with special thanks all the North East Residential Services staff have helped me become "all that I could be." My life story would not be complete without sharing my love for trains and the many friends that I made at the railroad yard, especially Paul Foley. I will hold in my heart his favorite saying: "Two Paul's are better than one." My life has been a long train ride-sometimes smooth, sometimes bumpy. God has always watched over me and guided me to its final stop-the heavenly station where he now holds me in his arms.
In addition to his parents, Paul is survived by his brother Stephen J. Buonomo of Amesbury. He was the uncle of Matthew and Krista Sanders and the cousin of Barbara Mirlocca of Wakefield.
A funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday, September 17 at 12:30pm. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 11am. Interment will be at Oakdale Cemetery, 195 N Main Street in Middleton.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Paul's name to Care Dimensions Hospice, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or to Northeast Residential Services, P.O.Box A Hawthorne, MA 01937.
