Paul Gilbert, Sr.

Paul V . Gilbert , Sr . age 83, a longtime Melrose resident, died Thursday, December 5 at the Meadow View Center in North Reading.

Born in Somerville on November 18, 1936 he was the son of the late Arthur and Gladys (Blanchard) Gilbert . He was the beloved husband of Dorothy M. (Chute). Also survived by his eight children, 14 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Mr. Gilbert was raised in Somerville before marrying and ultimately raising his family in Melrose. He had been a Chaplin at the Walpole prison for 20 years and had served in the United States Marine Corps.

Funeral Service in the First Baptist Church, 457 Main St., Stoneham on Monday at 10am followed by interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
