Dr. Paula M. Mullen of Billerica, formerly of Woburn, died on Saturday, March 23rd at the Beth Israel-Deaconess Hospital in Boston.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on October 3, 1951, she was the daughter of the late William and Sabina (Dalba) Mullen.
Dr. Mullen was a graduate of Woburn High School, Class of 1969, University of New Hampshire, Class of 1973. She obtained her Master's Degree from Bentley College and her Doctorate from Nova University. Dr. Mullen was a retired Principal from the Galvin Middle School in Wakefield and was the former Athletic Director at the Wakefield Memorial High School. She was the former Head Women's Basketball coach at Bentley College.
She is survived by her wife, Tracey L. Harrington, her brother William G. Mullen III of Woburn, her sister Mary Mullen of Woburn and Buster. Paula was the niece of Mr. & Mrs. Manuel Ferdinand, Geraldine "Cooki" Gaspar, Marie DeVellis all of Wakefield, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Dalba of Malden and Rose Dalba of Medford. She is also survived by many loving cousins.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara Church 138 Cambridge St., Woburn at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday from 2-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Paula M. Mullen Scholarship Fund, c/o Citizen Scholarship Fund P.O. Box 321, Wakefield, MA 01880, which will be awarded each year to a student who displays "spirit, perseverance and a positive attitude".
