Peter Bruen

Peter A. Bruen quietly passed away on December 14 at Winchester Hospital with his family by his side. A resident of Wakefield, MA, for 56 years, he was born on August 18, 1920 in Nashua, NH. He was the son of Peter and Ellen (Winn) Bruen.

Serving in the Navy as an airplane mechanic during World War II, Peter was stationed on the island of Tarawa. He had also been assigned to an aircraft carrier in the South Pacific.

Peter married Frances Stackhouse in 1948 and together they raised eight children.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, he leaves behind his children and spouses: Ellen Bullard and her husband Larry of Stratham, NH; Peter Bruen and his wife Molly of Bellingham, MA; Fran Bruen of Worcester, MA; Patty Grabowski and her husband Karl of Londonderry, NH; Ginny Murray and her husband Dan of Mt. Vernon, NH; Laurie Roberto and her husband Fred of Lynnfield, MA; Tom Bruen and his wife Lisa of Walpole, MA and Stephen Bruen and his wife Darlene of Woburn, MA. He was the brother of the late James Bruen and Richard Bruen. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Stephanie Bullard, and his grandson, Peter John Roberto.

He was a member of the National Exchange Club serving as President in 1953 and a former member of the Wakefield Lions Club. In addition, he was a volunteer fireman in Highland Park, NJ.

He owned and operated Bruen, Inc. before retiring in 2000.

Visitation for family and friends is Monday, December 17 from 4-8 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield, MA. Funeral from the McDonald Funeral Home at 10:30 on Tuesday, December 18. An 11:30 Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery.
