Peter J. O'Brien, 75, of Reading, died on Monday, January 1 at The Lahey Clinic in Burlington.
He was born on July 2, 1942 and was the son of the late Martin and Dorothy (Tobin) O'Brien.
Peter was raised in Charlestown and was a graduate of Charlestown High School class of 1961. He was the Captain of the hockey team at English High School before returning to Charlestown High School. After High School, he served in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam Era. He was a self-employed contractor before becoming a job coach at Seem Collaborative in Wakefield for 10 years. Peter loved spending time with his wife Maureen and the rest of his family. He also enjoyed sailing in his spare time.
Peter was the beloved husband of Maureen P. (Sweeney) O'Brien. He was the loving father of Kerri Weiden and her husband Robert of Reading, and Matthew Quinton and his fiancé Marcia Selva of Sacramento, CA. He was the brother of Mildred Stout of Salem, IN, Mary Bucchieri of Saugus and the late Martin O'Brien and Dorothy Magliozzi. Grandfather of Lindsey, Brendan, Aidan, and Nathaniel. Peter is also survived by many nieces and nephews
His Funeral Service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment, Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
