Philip Solomon

Philip J. Solomon, D.M.D., 86, a longtime resident of Lynnfield, died on Monday, August 26 in North Hero, Vermont.

Born in Norton Mills, VT on September 11, 1926 he was the son of the late Joseph and Laura (Dubois) Solomon.

Dr. Solomon was raised in Vermont and was a graduate of Canann High School. He was also a graduate of Tufts College and Tufts Dental School in Boston where he was named Class Valedictorian. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy.

Dr. Solomon had practiced Dentistry in Melrose since 1957.

He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth L. (Klebe) Solomon. He was the father of Ann S. Twomey and her husband Dennis of Westborough, Dr. David P. Solomon and his wife Janice of Lynnfield, Susan A. DiReda and her husband Steven of Shrewsbury, Dr. Joseph W. Solomon of North Reading and the late Philip J. Solomon, Jr. He was the brother of Pauline Daley of NH and companion of Eleanor Halas of Lynnfield. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Friday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield at 10 o'clock. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Village Cemetery in Colebrook, NH on Saturday at 1 p.m.
