Philomena A. "Phyllis" Evangelista, 87, of Wakefield died on Wednesday, November 21 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading.

Born in Harrison, New Jersey on January 22,, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Marturano) Cerullo.

Phyllis was raised and educated in Harrison, New Jersey and had been a Wakefield residence for 66 years. She was a member of the St. Florence Church, the Lady Sodality, Sons of Italy Lodge #1834 and was an avid Bingo player.

Phyllis was the wife of the late Samuel P. Evangelista. She is survived by her three daughters; Marie Vacca and her husband Vito of Wakefield, Angela Cernigliaro and her husband Frank of Woburn, and Janie Coolidge and her husband Stephen of Peabody and her two brothers; Anthony Cerullo of Wakefield and Daniel Cerullo of Ortley Beach, NJ. Mrs. Evangelista is also survived by her six grandchildren; Joanne Myers, Sandra Surette, Diana Vacca-Barry, Gina Frankum, Marena MacLaughlin and Darlene and Keri Abramovich and her three great grandchildren; Jenna Myers, Michael and Jason Barry.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday 2-5 p.m. and Monday 3-6 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
