Rafeal Gonzalez

Rafael Gonzalez of Chelsea and formerly of Stoneham died at the Massachusetts General Hospital on Saturday March 2.

Rafeal was teh beloved husband of Gloria E. (Martinez) Gonzalez . He was the father of Rafael Gonzalez , Jr. and his wife Iraida of Everett, Alma Gonzalez of Washington, DC, Steven Gonzalez and his wife Donna of No. Reading, Javier Gonzalez and his wife Flor of E. Swansea, NH, Efrain Gonzalez and his wife Adriana of Billerica, Maritza ( Gonzalez ) Rivera and her husband Jesus Rivera of Somerville. He was the devoted grandfather of Jessica, Kathy, Rafael, Carlos, MaryAnn, Daniel, Lito, Andres, Juan, Elijah, Stephanie, Christian, Ruby, Anthony, Gabriel, and Israel. He was the blessed great grandfather of Julianne, Marc, Angel, Samantha, Gregory, Giovanni, Isabella, and Narai.

Rafael was a long time member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and a devoted man of God. He was a Korean War Veteran and was the Director of Environmental Services at the Woburn Rehabilitation. He was also a mechanic, and an avid Baseball Fan and recipient in the year 2000 of the Carnegie Medal. At one time he was a professional singer, he owned the most beautiful baritone singing voice. Papi, we rejoice you have found peace in Christ.

A Funeral service will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
