Rattana Cherry

Rattana "Mou" Cherry , 51, of Saugus died on Sunday, February 14 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Bangkok, Thailand on March 16, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Mui and Siri Saelim.

Mou was raised and educated in Thailand. She moved to the United States with her husband in 1987 and settled in Saugus.

Mou enjoyed sewing and was also an avid gardener. She loved spending time planting and tending her flower gardens in the summer. She also enjoyed creating and hand sewing patchwork quilts for her family and friends. Mou was an animal lover and was involved in the rescue of many homeless animals over the years.

Mrs. Cherry is survived by her husband David L. Cherry , a Wakefield native, her son, Chanan Saelim and his wife Pontip of Lynn and her granddaughter, Ava Saelim. She is also survived by two brothers, Surachai Saelim and Prawit Lesatarget, a sister, Valai Chunjitr and several nieces and nephews, all of Thailand. She was predeceased by her sister, Sukhonth Janthiwakul.

Relatives and friends may call at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Thursday beginning at 11am. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 pm. Final Rites will be held at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in W. Peabody.
