, 71, of Haverhill and formerly of Wakefield, died Saturday, February 13 at his residence.
Born in Queens, New York on January 1, 1939, he was the son of the late Walter P. and Louise (Ehatt)
Strauss
.
Mr.
Strauss
was the first baby born in Queens, New York in 1939. He was a graduate of Franklin K. Lane High School in Queens, New York, Class of 1956 and New York University, Class of 1965 with a BA in Education with Honors. He had also served in the Coast Guard Reserve. Mr.
Strauss
was a retired Purchasing Manager for Western Electric, AT&T / Lucent after 37 years of employment.
He was a member of the Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church in Wakefield. Mr.
Strauss
was active in sports in High School and was an avid sports fan. He coached various Wakefield youth sports programs including the 1986, 13 year old All-Star that went to Nationals in Lebanon, Missouri. Mr.
Strauss
was a devoted family man and had a special interest in H-O model railroad.

is survived by his loving wife Carole Ann (Schwenzer)

and his wife Mary Beth of Newburyport, Glenn

and his wife Peggy of Wakefield and Wayne J.
Strauss
and his wife Deborah of Peabody, his six grandchildren; Elizabeth, Katie, Tyler, Kira, David and Trevor, his brother Walter P.
Strauss
of Flemington, NJ and his sister Joanne Bolen of Farmington Hill, MI. Mr.
Strauss
was predeceased by his loving grandson Andrew.
A funeral service will be held in the Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church 273 Vernon St, Wakefield on Thursday at 11am. Relatives and friends may call at the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Wednesday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
