The Reverend Edgar George Parrott , 78, of Waltham, MA died peacefully October 30, 2013. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Parrott of Waltham, MA, and son, Daniel Parrott of Turlock, CA. He is also survived by grandchildren Catherine Gilsig and Jack Parrott . Ed was a retired Episcopal priest, most recently serving at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Lynnfield, MA.

Ed was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Canada, and attended high school in Baker, OR, and Walla Walla, WA. He earned a BA in history (1957) at Whitman College, WA, and an M.Div (1960) at Church Divinity School of the Pacific, in Berkeley, CA. He also earned MA degrees in History and Marriage & Family Counseling. Ed served parishes in Pasadena, San Jose, Pinole, Redlands, Fresno, Turlock, and Bakersfield, CA, Fort Wayne, IN and Lynnfield, MA. In addition to his pastoral work, Ed was a well-regarded specialist in chemical dependency counseling and intervention.

Ed travelled extensively in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. He was an accomplished musician, and avid reader of history and solver of industrial strength crossword puzzles. Ed was a masterful cook, an award-winning long-distance runner, consummate gardener and proud grandfather. His energy and spirit is fondly remembered by family and friends across the country and the world. A Eucharist celebrating Edgar G. Parrott's life will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 127 Summer St., Lynnfield, MA at 10:30am on Friday, November 8, 2013.
