Richard E. Cavanaugh, 82, of Our Lady Lake, Florida formerly of Stoneham died on Monday, September 8 in Florida.
Born in Medford on June 14, 1932 he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Murphy) Cavanaugh.
Mr. Cavanaugh was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1950. He had been a Stoneham resident for 28 years before moving to Florida. Mr. Cavanaugh was a retired engineer for Polaroid in Waltham. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran. Mr. Cavanaugh was a member of the Stoneham K of C, St. Patrick's Parish in Stoneham, the D.A.V and American Legion both in Florida.
He was the husband of the late Shirley (Sheehan) Cavanaugh. Mr. Cavanaugh is survived by his three sons; Richard Cavanaugh of Everett, Robert Cavanaugh of Lawrence and David Cavanaugh of Derry, NH, his daughter Michelle Cavanaugh of Londonderry, NH, his sister Mary Frisoli of Stoughton and his two grandchildren; Sarah Cameron and Colin Cavanaugh. He was predeceased by his brother John Cavanaugh and his sister Barbara Ellsworth.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Saturday, October 11th from 10am-2pm. Interment will be Private.
