Richard P. Chapman, 80, of Peabody, formerly of Wakefield, died Saturday, June 27 at the Peabody Glen Health Care Center.

Born in Haverhill on June 10, 1929 he was the son of the late Leroy and Rena (David) Chapman.

Mr. Chapman was raised and educated in Haverhill. He was an Army Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Chapman was the former owner of Chapman Flooring. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Wakefield.

Mr. Chapman was the husband of the late Delia (Deviller) Chapman. He is survived by his four sons; Richard Chapman Jr. and his wife Kathy of Wakefield, Stephen and his wife Carol of Reading, John and his wife Joanne of Falmouth, ME, and Peter and his wife Diana of Seabrook, NH. He was the brother of Roy Chapman of NH, Shirley Hurley of Lawrence, and the late Maria Hamilton and Robert Chapman. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Brandon, Kevin, Shaylah, Jonathan, Thomas, Jeffrey, Jay and Lindsey and one great-grandson, Derek.

A funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield Monday, July 6 at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10am. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 5. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Assn./Massachusetts Chapter, 715 Albany Street, C329, Boston, MA 02118.
