Richard W . Cronin , 85 of Stoneham died Friday, February 13 at the Lexington Health Care Center.
Born in Newburyport, MA on December 9, 1929 he was the son of the late Edward A. and Mary F. (Williams) Cronin .
Richard was raised in Amesbury and attended St. Joseph School and Amesbury High School. He graduated from Governor Dummer Academy and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He had been a Stoneham resident for 36 years before moving to Hampton, New Hampshire in 1996, after which he moved back to Stoneham. He worked in Manufacturing and Technical Sales positions for Westinghouse, Kennametal, Avco, and Excellon Automation. Richard enjoyed summering in Bridgton, Maine for over 35 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife Claire T. (O'Neill) Cronin with whom he shared 57 years of marriage; and his two daughters: Kathryn Foley of Stoneham and Susan Waring and her husband Charles of Billerica. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Larry and Janessa Foley, Kelly Warren, and Colleen Marfione and her husband Matthew; and his three great grandchildren: Alexis, Dylan, and Elise.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Friday at 9am followed by a funeral in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 8pm.
