Richard Hammersley

Richard D . Hammersley , 82, of New Smyrna, FL formerly of Malden and Saugus, died Wednesday, March 23 at his home.

Born in Malden on January 22, 1934 he was the son of the late Vernon and Gertrude (Carragher) Hammersley .

Richard was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and Bentley College. He was a former employee of Brodie Industrial Trucks of Woburn and the Mass Department of Revenue. He was a lifetime member of the Malden Lodge of Elks and the Irish American Club of Medford.

Richard was the husband of Carole F. (Cutillo) Hammersley . He was the father of Richard D . Hammersley , Jr. and his wife Theresa of Dedham, Alan Hammersley and his wife Lisa of Lynnfield, and Darlene Hammersley-Bayer of Nyack, NY. He was the brother of Arnold Hammersley of Malden and the late Francis and Edward Hammersley , and Sister Ann Francis. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Evan, Jeffrey, Kelsey, Kaylee and Jackson.

His Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10am. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday from 4-8pm.
