Richard A. King, 70, of Wakefield died suddenly on Thursday, March 19. Born in Somerville on July 23, 1944, he was the son of the late William and Thelma (Smith) King.
Mr. King was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1964. He retired in 2009 after 45 years as a well-respected and dedicated employee of Verizon / New England Telephone Company.
Mr. King is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne M. (McCarthy) King, his two sons; Matthew I. King and his wife, Stephanie of Reading and Christopher A. King, of Boston; his two beloved grandchildren, Lauren and Patrick King. He was predeceased by his brother, William King.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard's name to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
