Richard Merrill

Richard P . Merrill , 83, a resident of Belmont, NH for the past 18 years, and formerly of Stoneham, Melrose and Wakefield died on Tuesday, February 28 at the Winchester Hospital.

Born in Cambridge on December 7, 1928 he was the son of the late Ernest and Madeline (Graves) Merrill .

Richard was raised in Melrose. He had lived in Somerville for a few years and Stoneham for over 25 years. Richard worked for Thoresen Forms. Some of his projects included building Center Plaza and Government Center in Boston. He also enjoyed fishing and skiing.

Richard was the husband of Eleanor (Frasca) Pica-Merrill. He was the father of Dale Merrill of Stoneham and the late Dwight Merrill and the stepfather of Rae Pica of VA, Stephen Pica of Sanbornton, NH and Gary Pica of Melrose. He was the brother of Madeline Sigsburg of Reading and the late Hugh E. Merrill . He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

A funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
