Richard DeMeo

Richard T . DeMeo , 78, of Peabody died Wednesday July 28 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born Boston on October 7, 1931 he was the son of the late Anthony and Esther (Burke) DeMeo .

Mr. DeMeo was raised in Boston. He had worked in the hardware industry, as well as for the Murray Print Company of Westford, the Holiday Inn of Peabody and most recently Market Basket of Middleton.

Richard enjoyed dancing, bowling, fishing with his son Rick, playing Bocce, putting together jigsaw puzzles and playing cards, especially on a beautiful summer day. He also enjoyed watching John Wayne movies or any old black and white western Richard loved watching the Bruins and Red Sox games, cooking Italian food and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Richard was the husband of Nancy E. (Simpson) DeMeo . He was the father of Richard T . DeMeo , Jr. and his wife Andrea of Saugus, Elizabeth A. DeMeo of Peabody and Caroline Ward and her husband Raymond of R.I. He was the brother of David DeMeo and his wife Linda, Barbara McCarthy and her husband Carmen, Carolyn Van Dell and the late Anthony, John, and Paul DeMeo , Rita Severo, Phyllis Grier and Rosemary Matarazzo. He was the loving grandfather of Laura, Kerri, Kevin, Sheri and Eric and the great grandfather of Ryan and Alessia. He was the brother-in-law of Tina DeMeo .

A funeral service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Tuesday at 11am. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
