Richard S. Turner, 61, of Wakefield died peacefully at the Melrose – Wakefield Hospital on Sunday May 26th.

Born in Winchester on July 22, 1951 he was the son of the late Ralph and Mary (Bonfanti) Turner.

Mr. Turner was a graduate of Wakefield High School, class of 1969. He was a graduate of Central Connecticut College and completed post-graduate work at Berwick Academy in Maine. A retired lineman of the Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department, Mr. Turner was a member of the New England Electrical Union, Local #103. He was also a member of the Wakefield Elks, and a long time member of the West Side Social Club and was also the current president.

Mr. Turner was the husband of Kathleen (Orr) Turner. He was the father of Lindsay Turner and her fiancé Troy Renauld, Kevin Turner, Laura Turner and Katie Turner all of Wakefield. He was the brother of R. Donald Turner and his wife Ann of Hollis, NH. He was the brother-in-law of Melodie Turner of Northampton and was the son-in-law of Katherine Orr of Wakefield. Mr. Turner is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother David S. Turner.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave Wakefield, on Friday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St. at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. Burial will be private.
