Rita Carlton

Rita M. Carlton, 87 a Wakefield resident since 1981 died Friday June 1, at Woodbriar of Wilmington.

Born in Chelsea, February 8, 1925 she was the daughter of the late William F. and Maude L. (Lantz) Birch.

Rita was a Graduate of Chelsea High School Class of 1942, and Fisher Junior College 1944. She was an active member of St. Florence Church where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality

Rita was the wife of the late John J. Carlton. She was the mother of Joan R. Neale and husband Joseph of Wakefield, Robert B. Carlton and wife Patricia of Windham, NH, Paula M. Smith and husband Joseph of Norfolk, VA, Mary M. Wall and husband Kevin of N. Augusta, SC and Joyce A. Gannon and husband Stephen of Saugus. She was the sister of the late Thomas and Paul Birch. Rita is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield, Tuesday 10 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave Wakefield at 11 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home Monday. 4 – 8 P.M.

Interment, Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
