Rita M . McDonald , 85, of Concord, NH, formerly of Wakefield died Sunday January 1, at the Havenwood Heritage Heights in Concord, NH, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Boston, May 9, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Walter W. and Ruth (Manning) Slocumb.

Rita was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School. She worked in the East Greenwich School System as a secretary for many years.

A former resident of New York she lived in East Greenwich RI where they raised their family. She was also a member at Christ the King Church in Kingston, RI. In 1988 Rita moved to Narragansett, RI where she was involved with the Stephen's Ministries.

Her greatest joy was sharing her life with her grandchildren.

Rita is survived by her husband Joseph F. McDonald Jr. with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of John W. McDonald of Brooklyn, NY, Joseph F. McDonald , III of Bow, NH, James E. McDonald of Redondo Beach, CA, Gerard M . McDonald of Reading, Brian T. McDonald of Portland, ME, and Maura A. McDonald of South Portland, ME. She was the sister of Ann H. Donovan of Florida. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, Geoffrey, Ryan, Molly, Martha, and Patrick McDonald and Augustus, Oskar and Greta Frankwicz. She was preceded in death by her 2 sisters, Patricia A. Vining, and Ruth E. Slocumb.

A Funeral mass will be celebrated in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 180 Loudon Rd., Concord, NH, on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, MA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Resident's Fund at Havenwood, 33 Christian Ave., Concord, NH 03301.
