Rita McAleavey

Rita A . McAleavey , age 91 of Stoneham died July 23 in Winchester after a brief illness.

She was born in Boston, MA on August 20, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Attilio and Maria (Gnecco) Ragnetti.

Rita was raised in Cambridge, Everett and Boston's North End. She was retired from the Town of Arlington. She had been a Stoneham resident for the past ten years and was a member of Saint Patrick Church and also the Wakefield Senior Center.

She was the beloved wife of the late Hugh J. McAleavey . She was the loving mother of Katheleen A . Hahn of Reading, Anne Koeck and Sandra McGrath of NH, Rita M. Gerace of Acton and Cynthia Newell of Stoneham. She was the sister of the late Ann Antle, Angelina Brewster, Michael Ragnetti, Emma Zagarella and Esther Mancini. She was the grandmother of Stephanie, Anna, Sarah, Gregory, Jillian, Jared, Cody, Kacey and Hayley and the great grandmother of Jack and Hannah. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Rita's Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10am followed by an Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
