Robert G . "Bob" Beane , age 73, of Reading, MA died Tuesday, October 29 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born in Wakefield on June 8, 1946 he was the son of the late Leo F. and Elizabeth (Walsh) Beane .
Bob was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1964 and then went on to receive his Associates Degree from Northeastern University. He also had served in the National Guard. Bob had worked as a facilities manager for the EPA and had received a presidential award from President Obama for overseeing design and construction of the New England Regional Laboratory for the EPA, located in Chelmsford and had worked as a Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Boardwalk Real Estate in Reading for 20 years.
Bob had a love of antique cars and hot rods, as well as antique cast iron toys. In light of these interests, he also enjoyed flea markets and antique car shows, often traveling to Hershey, PA for the events. He enjoyed spending time at Newfound Lake in New Hampshire whenever he was able. Bob had coined the phrase "Beane's Machines" because of his ability to fix anything.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane (Salamone) Beane; his two sons, Robert G . Beane , Jr. and his wife Jamie of Burlington and Brian C. Beane and his wife Lauren of Saratoga Springs, NY; his brothers, Leo F. Beane , Jr. and his wife Connie of York Beach, ME, Ron Beane and his wife Patti of Woburn; his brother-in-law Bob Salamone and his wife Julianne of Duxbury; and his grandchildren, Caroline, Leonardo, Vera, Ali, Peyton, Colin, and Lindsey; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Roy Beane .
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 10:30am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-4pm. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
