., 84, a life long resident of Wakefield died on Sunday, July 6 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Wakefield on January 30, 1924, he was the son of the late
Robert
E
. and Mary A. (Beane)
Johnson
.
Mr.
Johnson
was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1942. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Mr.
Johnson
was a longtime member of the Wakefield Police Department and retired in 1973.
Mr.
Johnson
was the husband of the late Marion A. (Riley). He is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey R.
Johnson
and his wife Cynthia of Topsfield and Timothy J.
Johnson
of Newton and his fiancé Ann-Marie Ponze. He is also survived by eight loving grandchildren. Mr.
Johnson
was predeceased by his daughter Jayne M.
Johnson
, and his three sisters, Rita Widell, Barbara Gillin, and Lorraine Cerullo.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10:00 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
