Robert Webster Emery of Nahant, MA an Assistant Dean at Boston University, accomplished author, musician, songwriter and poet died Monday June 14 at age 66.

Born in Newton on July 12, 1943 he was the son of the late Jackson K. and Elizabeth (Follansbee) Emery.

Robert was raised in Wayland and was a graduate of Buckingham Brown and Nichols School of Cambridge. He went on to graduate from The University of Pennsylvania where he was captain of the Varsity Men's Soccer team. He received his masters from Boston University as well as his Doctorate in Humanistic Studies. He worked as a professor at Boston University for 32 years and was the Assistant Dean of the College of General Studies as well as Director of the Writing Center and the Adjunct Assistant Professor of Rhetoric. As a musician he was a long time member of the band Northern Lights and during his career he played with his very good friend Peter Rowan and Grammy nominees Del McCourey and Allison Brown. His main interest in music was composing but he was also adept at vocals, guitar, electric bass and mandolin. As a poet he had more than a dozen of his own writings published. These are but a few high lights of a varied career of accomplishment.

Robert was the husband of the late Nancy (Spooner) Emery. He was the father of Peter W. Emery and his wife Karen of Cape Elizabeth, ME and Sarah S.Warchol and her husband Michael of Wakefield. He was the brother of David Emery of Cape Porpoise, ME, Alan Emery of Palm Springs, CA and Donald Emery of Cotuit. He was also the grandfather of Meghan, Caroline, Olivia, Thomas, and Alexander.

Services will be private and interment will be at Arundel Cemetery in Kennebunkport, ME. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield, MA
