Robert Crawford

Robert H . Crawford . 72, of Melrose died suddenly on Wednesday, December 31 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Manhattan, New York on January 2, 1936 he was the son of the late Howard E. and Dorothy (Tufts) Crawford .

Mr. Crawford was raised in Wakefield and was edicated in the Wakefield School system. He attended the Hatch Prep School in Rhode Island and Washington & Lee University in Virginia. Mr. Crawford was a Veteran of the United States Army. He Had worked for New England Merchants bank in Boston, BayBank in Somerville and Wakefield and retired as an Assistant Vice President at The Savings Bank in Wakefield. Mr. Crawford had been a member of the Wakefield Rotary Club since 1978, where he was a past President, a Paul Harris Fellow, and served as Treasurer for many years.

He is survived by his wife Helen E. (DiMartino) Crawford , his two daughters; Leigh A. Pescatore and her husband Peter F. of Wakefield and Laura A. Crawford of Dracut. Mr. Crawford is also survived by his two grandchildren; Meghan and Ryan Pescatore.

A funeral service will be held in the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St, Wakefield on Monday at 11 AM. Relatives and friends may call at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Sunday from
1-5 PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wakefield Rotary Club P.O. Box 431, Wakefield, MA 01880.
