Robert McCarthy

Robert E. McCarthy, 79, of Everett and formerly of Melrose, died Tuesday, September 20 at the Wakefield Center.

Born in Chelsea on December 12, 1936 he was the son of the late Jerome and Mary (Mahoney) McCarthy.

Mr. McCarthy was born and raised in Chelsea and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School. He went on to receive his Bachelor's in Business from Boston College. Mr. McCarthy had worked in Banking until his retirement. He was a member of the Chelsea Knights of Columbus and was an avid gardener, lover of classical music, and crossword enthusiast.

He was the loving husband of the late Irene J. (Lepore) McCarthy. He was the beloved father of Colleen M. Frederick and the adoring grandfather of Riley I. Frederick, both of Wakefield. He was the former father-in-law of Todd E. Frederick of New Hampshire.

His Funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 11am. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday from 5-8pm.
