Robert Melcher, Sr.

Robert L . Melcher , Sr . of Stoneham, formerly of Malden, died Saturday, September 9, at his residence.

Born in Revere, MA on January 27, 1931 he was the son of the late Raymond A. and Helen (Ready) Melcher .

Bob was raised in Revere and was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School of Revere. He then went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern University. Mr. Melcher had been a Stoneham resident for many years; he was a member of the North Shore Railroad Club of Wakefield and Knights of Columbus in Revere. He had worked as a Design Engineer for Itec, Draper, and Raytheon. Bob was very passionate about photography as well as his trains; enjoying buying and trading them on EBay. He took a great interest in computers and was highly motivated to stay current in technology, many times proving to be more computer savvy than his own children.

He was the beloved husband of the late Connie (Maglio) Melcher . He was the loving father of Donna Kady and her husband Robert of Stoneham, Alice DiPietro and her husband Paul of Wakefield, Judi Allen and her husband Paul of Billerica, Robert l. Melcher Jr. and his wife Julia of Stoneham, and Kurt Melcher and his wife Gilda of Danvers. He was the brother of Raymond Melcher of Washington, D.C. Anne Graeber of Texas, and the late Joseph Melcher . He was the loving grandfather of Justin, Alyssa, Nicholas, Brittany, Meghan, Timothy, Sean, Derek, and Geena. Also survived by four great grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, Hadley, Madison, and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn memorial Park in Peabody.
