Robert Murphy

Robert F. Murphy, 83, of Wakefield, died on Wednesday, October 15 at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation in North Reading.

Born in Boston on August 4, 1925, he was the son of the late Michael and Louise (Maxwell) Murphy.

Mr. Murphy was a graduate of Jamaica Plain High School and served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II in the Philipines. He was a retired Vice President of Operations for Synthon Inc. in Chelsea.

Mr. Murphy had been a Wakefield resident since 1958 and was a member of St. Joseph Church. He was also a life member of the Wakefield Council #104 Knights of Columbus where he had served as Past Grand Knight.

Mr. Murphy was the husband of Jeanne (Frank) Murphy. He was the father of Elaine Taylor of Meredith, NH, Roberta Preston of Plymouth and Robert Murphy, Jr. of Wakefield. He was the brother of Mary True of Haverhill, Lorraine Murphy of W. Roxbury and the late Edward and William Murphy. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church Wakefield at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
