Robert M. Sampson, 67, of Stoneham died on Saturday, April 15 at his residence.
Born in Malden on November 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Henry and Virginia (Tuschner) Sampson.
Mr. Sampson was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 1967, where he played on the Football, Hockey and Baseball teams. He had retired from the Stoneham Housing Authority. Mr. Sampson was the author of "Sideline Sam" for the Stoneham Independent during the 1970's. He was an avid golfer and bowler.
Mr. Sampson is survived by his wife Ann Marie (Hartwell) Sampson, his son Christopher H. Sampson of Stoneham, his brother Henry Sampson, Jr. and his wife Pauline of FL., his sister Patricia Strachan of Stoneham, his brother-in-law Kevin M. Hartwell and his wife Christine of NH and his sister-in-law Barbara R. Hartwell of Bedford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
