Robert "Porky" Stanton, 76, of Wakefield died on Tuesday, November 6 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Wakefield on January 24, 1936 he was the son of the late Edward and Bessie (Roach) Staunton.
Robert was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1954. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a former heavy equipment operator for P&J Construction and Joseph P. Cardillo & Sons. After his retirement he worked part time for Liberty Chevrolet in Wakefield.
Robert was the husband of Barbara (Ryan) Stanton. He was the father of Robert J. Sheehan and his wife Martha P. of North Andover, Darlene Sheehan Center and her husband James R. of Kingston, NH, and Marcy Stanton Manzi and her husband Patrick J. of Wakefield. He was the brother of Edward Stanton of Reading, John Stanton of Wakefield and the late Helen Connor, Mary Soucy, and James Stanton. He was the grandfather of Hannah and Kristen Sheehan, Brianna Center, and Danika Manzi.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham.
