Roger W. Orben, 68, of Peabody formerly of Melrose died on Saturday, March 11 at the Tuft's Medical Center in Boston.
Born in Winchester on January 13, 1949, he was the son of the late Raymond H. and Gladys (DeRenne) Orben.
Mr. Orben was raised and educated in Melrose. He had worked for A.W. Chesterton in Woburn. Mr. Orben enjoyed coin collecting, metal detecting, fishing, hunting, hiking in the woods. He also enjoyed playing "Bob the Builder" with his grandson, Nakota. His grandchildren meant the world to him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years of marriage Marie (LeFave) Orben, his son Roger "Butch" Orben and his wife Lynn of Colorado, his daughter Donna Kimball of Dover, New Hampshire, his three grandchildren; Lily and William Orben and Nakota Kimball. Mr. Orben is also survived by his two brothers; Truman Orben of New Hampshire and Kevin Orben of Maine, his two sisters; Arline Dunnells of Newburyport and Patricia Medeiros of New Hampshire and his brother-in-law Daniel LeFave of Peabody and many many nieces, nephews and friends. Roger will be truly missed by all who knew him. (RIP Grumpy). Mr. Orben was predeceased by his three brothers; Raymond Orben, Lionel Orben and Leroy Orben and his three sisters; Barbara Dingle, Glennis Boulay and Gloria Morris.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, March 23 from 4-7pm, followed by a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joslin Diabetes Center at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, 585 Lebanon St., Melrose, MA 02176.
